Installing Home Assistant on Proxmox – Enter the Big Leagues – Step 3

Step 3: Installing Home Assistant on Proxmox – Enter the Big Leagues

Ah, Proxmox. Where smart home enthusiasts become server overlords.

What You’ll Need:

  • Proxmox installed
  • Home Assistant QCOW2 image
  • More coffee (trust me again) and not to be scared

How to Conquer Proxmox:

  1. Upload the QCOW2 Image – SCP or Proxmox’s web GUI (yes, I just casually dropped ‘SCP’ as if it’s obvious).
  2. Create a VM – Set the OS type to Linux and give it resources like you mean it.
  3. Attach the Disk – Replace the default disk with your fancy QCOW2 image.
  4. Boot It Up – Head over to Home Assistant’s web interface and behold the power of virtualization.
