How Can We Help?
Run Multiple Zigbee Networks with Zigbee2MQTT
A detached garage or workshop can be too far away for one Zigbee mesh. Instead of stretching an impossible radio gap, run a second Zigbee2MQTT network and feed both into the same Home Assistant MQTT broker.
The design
Keep one Zigbee network for the house and create a second Zigbee2MQTT server/coordinator for the remote building. Both publish to the same MQTT broker.
Dedicated credentials
Create a separate MQTT username and password for the remote instance.
Install and configure
Install Zigbee2MQTT on a small Ubuntu server or VM, configure its coordinator, frontend and Home Assistant support, and point MQTT at the existing broker.
Test before migrating everything
Pair one sensor and confirm it appears in Home Assistant. Then configure Zigbee2MQTT to start automatically and reboot once to prove it returns unattended.
